Business Ethics Question #2

Respond in about 100-150 words.

Ted works as a real estate agent for commission. This means he earns six percent of whatever he sells. However, if he does not sell anything, he will not earn a paycheck. Lately, his sales have gone down considerably. Now, he is having trouble paying off some of his bills.

One of the houses he has for sale is in a dangerous neighborhood. Recently, the house next door was broken into, and the police have been called out frequently by other residents on the block.
If Ted sells this house, he will earn $8,000.

He receives a phone call about a woman interested in seeing the home. She is new to town, has a small child, and asks Ted if this is a nice place to live. What should he tell her and why?

Business ethics Questions #2

I think Ted should tell the woman the truth about the house. Even though he’s having problems, he needs to sell the house he could just tell the truth and maybe she will look at other houses to buy from him. Maybe she still would even consider buying it. If he doesn’t most likely she will find out herself and would want to move as soon as possible. She has a baby and it would be best to tell her that it’s a bad neighborhood. Her baby could get hurt and it would basically be his fault and most likely he would feel bad. If he tells her the truth about the house and how he really feels about it, she will see that he is looking out for her and will trust him enough for her to buy another house that he meets her expectations.

I think that Ted should tell her the truth. Because she will most likly want to buy a different house. And he could be the one to find the right house for her. Then she will have been impressed and tell her friends who may want to move in the future and they will come to Ted because you are honest and helpful. So either way he wins just the honest way could get him more business.

Ted should just tell the truth. It IS a dangerous neighborhood, and something could happen to the woman or her child, and I'm pretty sure it will be on his conscience for a long time. Telling the truth might actually help him in the long run. She might ask him to sell her a different house, or one of her friends might be interested in the house. If the woman is desprate for a house, she might still decide to move in.

Ted should tell this woman the honest truth. Although he really wants to sell this house he should be known as a real estate agent as being honest and open with his customers. It wouldn't be right to lie to the woman just to please himself, especially if the woman has a young child to think about. He should have empathy and realize what he would want someone to do for him if he was in that situation.

In All Honesty he should let her know the truth about the enviornment that she looking to move to becasue of her kid. She should look at it and if she feels the neighborhood isnt bad she can move and if it to bad maybe she would respect him for telling the truth and if he stressed the fact enough that he really needed the money syhe would really consider looking into some of ted other open option of homes.
